Abstract:
This article emphasizes the role of migrants and members of diaspora as agents of develop- ment. Migration is considered as one of the catalysts to reduce global inequality. Citizens resid- ing abroad and organized in diaspora communities are seen as possible partners for economic, political, social and cultural development. The degree of integration and success in the host so- ciety contributes to the diaspora’s ability to also contribute and influence the feeling of efficacy of diaspora members. Engagement can grow over time once diaspora members become inte- grated into the host society and further develop their abilities and knowledge.
