Abstract:
This article takles some key aspects of the Persian protocol and ceremonial during the four historical periods of Persian statality beginning with the year 700 B.C. to the year 651 A. D.
The rule of Cyrus II the Great - the founder of the Persian Empire, who introduced the protocol and ceremonial at his court to rid the Persians of the habits of the barbarian and familiarize them with good manners is considered.
A special place is reserved to the Sassanid period (224 B.C. - 651 A. D.) when the court is man- aged by the chief of protocol-located on the first place, being followed by the successor to the throne, the head of the regiment of the “immortals” and other dignitaries. The scene of corona- tion of Sapur I and the hierarchical order of the officials at the court, the meeting with honors of foreign ambassadors and the magnificent exits in the public of the king in order to perpetuate the greatness of the Persian Empire in the interior and in relations with the neighboring countries are described.
